You see it all the time in youth sports… the “prodigy.” The kid who is training six days a week, winning every local tournament, and being pushed to specialise before they’ve even hit secondary school.
On the surface, it looks like they’re on the fast track to becoming a world-class athlete. But there’s a massive problem lurking in the shadows.
More often than not these “prodigies” burn out. In reality, the vast majority of kids who are pushed too hard, too young NEVER become elite adults.
The ones that do make it are the outliers NOT the rule.
