The Crucifix is one of the best submission positions in Jiu Jitsu. The power of the position comes from your ability to isolate both your opponents arms and limit their movement, while still having one arm free to attack.
Check out this short sequence from one of Tom’s training sessions to see the level of control it gives :
The Crucifix is a bit of a cheat code for BJJ. You see very few people practice escaping the crucifix. As a result, once you trap them in the Crucifix, they struggle to get out and leave themselves open to many submission opportunities. Worst case scenario and they do wriggle free, you can either transition to the back or reenter the crucifx.
On Friday 3rd October, Escapology BJJ head instructor, Tom Barlow will be teaching the first part of his Crucifix Masterclass series. The focus of the first seminar will be on Crucifix control and simple submission opportunities. The masterclass will be taught in the Gi, but most of the content works just as well No Gi.

The masterclass will take place at 6 PM at Escapology BJJ in Cambridge, U.K. and is open to anyone of any level. The is cost £20 for Escapology BJJ students and affiliates and £30 for people from other gyms.
On top of the live seminar you will also get a recording of the masterclass and we’ll be going for a fireside chat after.
