A little over two months ago, we set out on an ambitious journey to transform an old hall into our brand-new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy. Fast forward and we’re open and we couldn’t be prouder of the incredible space we’ve created!

• Our cozy new café: Almost ready to go with meals from our talented student-run business, Two Chefs, plus a proper coffee setup for post-training fuel.
• Two incredible mat spaces: Mat one is massive, and perfect for our main classes. Mat two is more intimate and ideal for our beginners sessions and smaller classes. Both mats are fully padded, well lit, and have heating!
• The multifunctional hangout area: Perfect for parents, kids, and anyone looking to chill after a hard training session. Bistro-style vibes included.
• Our revamped locker rooms: Thoughtful touches like makeup stations, hooks that pull out (they’re cooler than they sound, we promise), and plenty of warmth to keep you comfortable.

Picture this – we were all set to turn our BJJ academy into the ultimate Jiu Jitsu haven in the country, complete with a speakeasy-style coffee shop in the basement. Cool, right? Yeah, we thought so too—until a health and safety expert walked in, took one look, and said, “Nope. That’s not going to work. People might actually die.”

Cue the chaos. Our dream setup got flipped on its head, and we had to get creative. Fast forward to now, and we’ve reworked everything. The coffee shop? It’s found a new, cozy spot. The mat space? Prepped and ready for action. The vibe? Still top-tier, just with fewer death traps.

Creating Escapology 2.0 is a behind the scenes look at the journey Tom & Chelsea have been on from arriving in Cambridge in 2017.

From starting with nothing to building one of the most successful schools in the area to building out their new location, it’s been an incredible ride and it’s only going to get better.
