Kairos 2 Sessions

In case you missed, Kairos 2 is taking place on Sunday 27th April. The main competition features 10 of Europes top under -55kg femal grapplers. On top of that we’ve added a super-fight between two of the best -66kg competitors in Europe Daniel de Groot and Tommy Yip.

To support the event Daniel and Tommy will also be teaching two special training sessions on Saturday 26th April. .

In case you’ve never heard of Tommy or Daniel here’s a little info about them…

Tommy is one of the UK’s most exciting competitors in the Gi and No Gi, and has an abundance of success in both submission only and points based rulesets.

Daniel is an ADCC trials medalist, a Europeans and Brasileiros medalist, and the first ever Dutchman to with the Brasileiros back at purple belt.

The Kairos Session will take place in three parts:

  • 10:30 AM – Tommy Yip Session
  • 12:30 PM – Daniel de Groot Session
  • 2:00 PM – Open Mat Session.

There are two ticket options available for the sessions regular at £50 and VIP which gives you access to watch Kairos live the following day. Regardless of the option you choose all funds go straight to the athletes.

Jozef Chen At Escapology BJJ

On Sunday (16th February 2025) Escapology BJJ held a seminar with grappling phenom Jozef Chen.

In case you never heard of Jozef Chen, his rise up the BJJ and submission grappling ranks is nothing short of incredible. Despite only having trained Jiu Jitsu for a relatively small amount of time, Jozef has established himself as one of the top grapplers on the planet.

Around 60 Jiu Jitsu players around the UK attended the seminar during which Jozef taught some of his signature passing techniques. Take a look at some of the picture below:

It was a pleasure to have Jozef at Escapology BJJ and to welcome some many Jiu Jitsu enthusiasts from around the country on to our mats.

Jozef Chen Seminar

On Sunday 16th February 2025, Escapology BJJ will be holding a seminar with grappling phenom Jozef Chen.

In case you never heard of Jozef Chen, his rise up the BJJ and submission grappling ranks is nothing short of incredible. Despite only having trained Jiu Jitsu for a relatively small amount of time, Jozef has established himself as one of the top grapplers on the planet.

Chen’s breakout moment came in 2023 at the ADDC European Trials, where he showcased his skills by defeating a lineup of world-class competitors including Oliver Taza and Tommy Langaker in a single day.

The seminar will take place at 10AM at Escapology BJJ’s new location in centre of Cambridge, U.K. and is open to anyone of any level. The is cost £50 for Escapology BJJ students and affiliates and £65 for non-members.

Lateral Drop From 2 On 1

I don’t know what it is about BJJ players, but they love jumping on your neck and try to guillotine you.

It’s no difference in the 2 on 1 grip AKA the Russian Tie. The cool thing is that if they decide to attack your neck, you can punish them with the Lateral drop.

It’s super easy to set up and finish, and if you get really good at it, you can even bate your partner to attack your neck.

Everyday I’m Wrasslin’ Part 1 // Masterclass

If you want to have good Jiu Jitsu, you have to have a good understanding of takedowns.

A well timed takedown, can change the course of a match or score vital points when needed. There are countless examples where a takedown has been the key to victory for an athlete. 

Takedowns aren’t just useful when you’re standing – they’re critical in your sweeping game, too. After all, a sweep is just a takedown that starts in guard. 

To help you develop your takedown game Escapology BJJ’s head coach will be teaching a masterclass on 28th September covering part of his wrestling game.

This is a game Tom has be developing for a long time, which he’s used to great effect at the high-levels of BJJ.

During the Everyday I’m Wrasslin’ master class Tom will be sharing the gripping strategies, takedowns, and transitions you need to know to add some wrestling to your BJJ arsenal.
