Mobility For BJJ Seminar

If you’ve ever been injured, you’ll know how frustrating it is to take time away from the BJJ mats. However, a lot of injuries are preventable by developing mobility and some simple prehab exercises.

Unfortunately, mobility and prehab are often overlooked as they’re not as they can be confusing and you have no clear picture of what you should be doing and when.

To help you get a better understanding of the common injuries that can happen, how they can be avoided, and the best ways to improve your mobility, we have the guys from Bulletproof For BJJ coming down to teach as seminar.

The seminar will take place on Wednesday 17th August at 6:30pm at Escapology BJJ in Cambridge and will focus on four main areas:

  1. Create a personalised Mobility checklist to identify their injury blindspots
  2. Learn how to correct the 3 biggest causes of injury for BJJ athletes
  3. Build their own specific Warm Up & Cool Down Routines to improve recovery
  4. How to improve Hip Flexibility for better Top game & Guard retention

The seminar is limited to 30 people and costs £30, but if you’d like to feel better and avoid future injuries, I’d highly recommend you attend. To register and secure your place click the button below:

6 Common 50/50 Mistakes & How To Fix Them

The 50/50 is not the mystery that it was a few years ago, but it’s still a position that many people struggle with, particularly against an opponent who is intent on using the 50/50 to stall.

A lack of familiarity with 50/50 can lead you to make a simple mistake that can cost you your ass. Thankfully most of the mistakes people make in 50/50 are easily fixed.

In the video, we address this mistake and a number of others that we see commonly in the 50/50:

Here are the six mistakes:

  • Trying to smash through the 50/50
  • Giving your opponent space to get underneath you
  • Floppy hooks
  • Loss of control of the leg
  • Loss of control of the knee line
  • And, finally, stalling from the 50/50 position.

The 50/50 has gotten a lot of flack for being a “stalling” position, but in reality, it’s the athlete that is responsible for stalling (or not) within any position. Using the 50/50 effectively requires an understanding of the common mistakes seen in the position, which is why we hope this video helps get you primed for the seminar!

If you want to learn more about the 50/50 guard and add it to your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu make sure you attend the Nifty 50/50 seminar taking place on Sunday 9th September at Rolling Dojo in Cambridge.

Sneaky Arm Bar From 50/50

The 50/50 is often considered a stalling position. As a result, a lot of people hate the 50/50. However, if you know how to use the 50/50 position you have a serious advantage over your opponents and there are numerous attacks you can use from there.

In this video, BJJ Black Belt, Tom Barlow shares one of his favourite attacks from the 50/50 guard. It’s a sneaky way to attack the arm bar without losing control of the position.

If you want to learn more about the 50/50 guard and add it to your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu make sure you attend the Nifty 50/50 seminar taking place on Sunday 9th Septmeber at Rolling Dojo in Cambridge.
